BEST EVENT (NURUL SYAZWANA 018878)
When I think of an event that's been gatekept in my core memories, I will immediately go back to 5th December, 2020. The eight of us were going through our last days of our final semester in UTP, and what better ways to celebrate the bittersweet memories of our 5 years journey there than to do a picnic by the lake? It was still peak covid time, so any activities outside were still mostly restricted. We decided to just do one inside of UTP and taking full advantage of the beautiful landscape of our alma mater. There is a place where the students usually go to during the evening to do some recreation and we call it the Oval Park. It has a really huge lake in the middle where we sometimes went kayaking at, with some jogging trek, a field where we usually play frisbees on, and a small playground.
The weather that day was really nice. A tad bit windy with clear sky. All of us went out and bought some foods beforehand. We had a cake, pizza, sushi, and some chips. We chipped in some money for these because, mind you, we were still some broke jobless students. I brought along a blanket which I owned and used that as our rug for the picnic. The sun was up nicely and bright. Just setting everything up for pictures alone was already such a fun experience. I truly believe that even a simple and mundane thing could be extremely fun to do when you are with the right people. That's what I felt that time.
After everything was done, we started eating. We talked about everything, our experiences, our passion, we talked about boys, and girls that we liked. I specifically remember that we had a full discussion about F1 because all of us loved the sport. We laughed a lot and outright being loud. It was really really a jovial moment. We took a lot of pcitures for the memory. We recorded everything, making sure that the future us will have something to look back to when they wanna remember that they used to be young and carefree.
One thing about UTP, or Seri Iskandar in general, is that they have the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my whole life. Living there for five years, it was always a new exciting view everyday. It was like opening a new and different Christmas present each day. And for some reason, the sunset that day was the prettiest I have seen since my whole time being there. We sit there, just watching the sun sets below the horizon, admiring the sky as it changes color, and slowly watching our surrounding gets dark. The whole time we were talking and talking, wishing that we could cover every topic there is on this earth.
I really miss these people. We are all on different paths of life now. Sure, we're still keeping contact with each other, we still meet up every once in a while, some of them I still talk to every single day till now, but nothing competes with being around each other everyday of our lives just like this particular moment. Nothing could ever beat being young and stupid. If you watch the movie Inside Out, this moment will be stored inside the ball they kept in their special drawer, the ones that shine the brightest, because this one is definitely a core memory.
