Kiyai Haji Bahauddin Nursalim ( Muhammad Irfan Bin Mohd Jamil ALAM018910 )

Kiyai Haji Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim is one of my idol. He is a sunni's scholar born at 29th September 1970 in Rembang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. I love him and make him as my reference also an idol if i have any conflicts about life since I am muslim. Eventhough now he is coined a title "Kiyai" but his humblity make him known as "Gus Baha". Kiyai title means people who are highly knowledgeable in matters of Islam, or scholars but Gus refer as children of kyai descent in Java Land. He always claimed that his knowledge is come from his father's blessing Kiyai Haji Nursalim and also his mother Nyai Hajah Yuhanidz.  From his father's family , Gus Baha is the 4th generation of scholars of the Qur'an. While from his mother's family genealogy, Gus Baha became part of a large family of Lasem scholars, from Bani Mbah Abdurrahman Basyeiban or Mbah Sambu.

One of his favourite teacher is Kiyai Maimoen Zubair known as Mbah Moen, has one favourite Qaseedah or Songs named "Sa'duna Fiddunya". Since I love him so much , I try to lift what his love, and the way of his lecture.

Study Background

    As a child, Gus Baha' was taught to learn and memorize the Qur'an directly by his father using the method of tajwid and makhorijul letters in a disciplined manner. This is in accordance with the characteristics taught by his father's teacher, namely KH. Holy Arwani. The discipline made Gus Baha' at a young age, able to memorize the Al-Qur'an 30 Juz along with its Qira'ah. When he was a teenager, his father left Gus Baha' to stay and serve Syaikhina KH. Maimoen Zubair at Al-Anwar Karangmangu Boarding School, Sarang, Rembang. Pondok al-Anwar is exactly 10 km east from his house.

    It was at Pondok Pesantren al-Anwar that the knowledge of Gus Baha' began to stand out such as the knowledge of hadith, jurisprudence, and interpretation. In hadith science, Gus Baha' was able to complete the memorization of Sahih Muslim complete with its matan, rowi and sanad. In addition to Sahih Muslim, he also completed and memorized the contents of Fathul Mu'in and Arabic grammar books such as 'Imrithi and Alfiah Ibnu Malik. In fact, according to a story, with the amount of memorization possessed by Gus Baha', he was the first santri of al-Anwar to hold the record for the most memorization. In addition, according to another story, it is also mentioned that, when he was going to hold a discussion forum or batsul masa'il in the lodge, many of Gus Baha''s friends refused to let Gus Baha' participate in the forum, because he was considered not to be at the santri level in generally because of the depth of knowledge, the breadth of vision and the amount of memorization that he possessed. So, on the basis of the depth of knowledge possessed by Gus Baha', this is what later made Gus Baha' to be trusted to become Rois Fathul Mu'in and Head of Ma'arif in the management ranks of Pesantren al-Anwar.

Speciality

    As a genuine santri ( Madrasah or Pondok Student ), with a non-formal and non-degree education background, Gus Baha' was given the privilege of being the Head of the Lajnah Mushaf Team of the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) Yogyakarta. Gus Baha' sat with Professors, Doctors and experts of the Qur'an from all over Indonesia such as Prof. Dr. Quraish Shihab, Prof. Zaini Dahlan, Prof. Shohib and other members of the National Interpretation Council.

    On one occasion once expressed by Prof. Quraish that Gus Baha's position in the National Interpretation Council is not only as a commentator, but also as a jurist commentator because of his mastery of the ahkam verses contained in the Qur'an. Every time he worked on the interpretation and interpretation of the Qur'an according to Prof. Quraish, Gus Baha's position is always in two capacities, namely as a commentator like other members of the lajnah, also as a Faqihul Quran who has the special task of analyzing the content of jurisprudence in the verses of the Quran's ahkam.

 This book is a book written by Gus Baha' which explains about Rasm Usmani which is equipped with examples and explanations based on the book al-Muqni' by Abu 'Amr Usman bin Sa'id ad-Dani (d. 444 H.). This book is useful for anyone to know how to understand the characteristics of writing the Qur'an in the Mushaf Rasm Usmani.
