I D O L (NURUL SYAZWANA ALAM018878)
Quite the definition of beauty and grace, Wan Nur Syaira is the kind of person I have always strived to become. She is a renowned businesswoman and artist, infamous for her clothing brand, saoi.my. She has always spread positivity and creativity on all her platforms, which has inspired me in a lot of ways.
I first heard about her when I was casually doing my daily scrolls on Twitter, and her beauty captured my attention right away. Of course, this was not the reason that I wanted to idolize her in the first place, however, there was just something about how she portrayed herself online that's just mesmerizing to my eyes. She advocated for women's rights constantly and that was very inspiring to me. As a woman subjected to male's misogynistic agenda on a daily basis, I completely relate to everything that she fought for. I remember when she was being heavily stalked by a guy and how terrified and traumatized that situation was for her and she was spreading awareness about it to the whole world, it reminds me of when I had went through the same thing in the past, and knowing that there are women out there who understand you and would fight for the crime with you, that feeling of deep womanhood among us was something that is very beautiful and dear to me.
I strongly believe that art is a vessel for everyone to fully express themselves in a way that words could not have done. Personally, I have used art as a way to tell the world who Syazwana really is, it's the one and only way where I can just speak without any words spoken and still be able to convey the million thoughts that I have in a day. When I found out that this lady was also using the same medium of self-expression, it was hard for me not to be excited about it. I have watched and seen the way she paints and how she tells her stories with every stroke of the brush, doing it ever so elegantly. I can't quite say exactly what it is but I love it when women get lost in what they are doing, being completely immersed in it that they forget the world and the chaos that is happening around them. There is just something so beautiful in it that I could not ever describe. That's the feeling that I get whenever I watched her do her works.
She is also a really successful businesswoman, striving in the clothing and fashion industry. I have been following her journey ever since she started her little clothing line, selling dresses and pants, to now having a steadily growing company with a strong community supporting her works. Even her brand screams elegance and grace. That is something that I really want to inhibit in myself. Syaira inspired me a lot to become a better version of myself. When I look at her, I see a beautiful, classy, and artistic woman, successful in what she is doing, and with a very kind soul too. Everything that I see her radiating is what I want to radiate from myself too. The way she inspired me in all the good ways is also how I want people to get inspired when they look at me.
Not only that, Syaira is a kind and humble individual who treats everyone with respect and dignity. Despite her success and popularity, she remains grounded and never fails to acknowledge the support and love she receives from her supporters. Her humility is a reminder to me that no matter how successful one may become, it is important to remain true to oneself and never forget where one came from. Her brand is also very inclusive and caters to all the demographics in Malaysia, even internationally. Not only that, she does not discriminate and welcomes anyone of any background to work alongside her in making the brand a successful one. She also portrays a really good work ethic and creates a working environment where everything and everyone feels like home. Among many things, she does inspire me to start a business and help give back to the community that I grew up in.
Apart from that, she is a strong advocate for mental health awareness, and she uses her platform to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues in the past, I admire her courage and bravery in speaking out about her struggles. She has inspired me to be more open and honest about my own struggles and to seek help when needed.
I have never regretted my choice in making her my idol. I love the fact that I am idolizing a woman that is wrapped in beauty, elegance, and class like her. I love how she inspires me in every aspect of life, to work hard even when the people around you are doubting your capabilities, to be kind to every soul you have ever crossed paths with, and to always advocate on the things that you believe in. I know there are a lot of other women out there who's idolizing her too, and I am glad to be one of them.
