FIRDAUS IZZUDDIN'S IDOL ALAM018938
As an early adulthood, I personally fill my time searching and scrolling anything about water sport beside having a class from 8.00 am to 5.00pm. When I was 5 or 6 years old, I have been introduced about swimming sport by my parents because I accidentally had drowned in a pool back then. In respect of this essay and my life experience, I have found someone that can be a role model or a person that I ideal the most.
Michael Phelps is a name that is synonymous with swimming. He is not just an ordinary swimmer, but a legend who has set an incredible number of records and achieved a lot of success. However, it is not just his athletic achievements that make him an ideal person for me. Besides, his work ethic, determination, and attitude towards life are also just as remarkable.
(This was an Alam’s Sport Months event. I was in the first lane from the left. As I remember, it was last semester and we won a second place in 4 x 50 meters freestyle relay).
Based on my searching through history, Michael Phelps was born in 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. His journey as a swimmer began when he was just seven years old just like me. Through the journey of becoming top class, he joined many tournaments and championships. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a world-class swimmer. Michael has an astonishing 28 Olympic medals, 23 of which are gold, making him the most decorated Olympian of all time.
But it is not just the number of medals that he has
won that sets him apart. It is his work ethic, determination, and focus that
have been the driving force behind his success. All these values have made me
inspire him so much. Even though he is top of the line, he never forget
everyone that have been kind of his backbone. He is known to train for hours
every day, pushing himself to his limits to improve his performance. He is
incredibly disciplined, and his ability to stay focused on his goals is truly
inspiring. In fact, I have found a statement that he swam minimum 80,000 meters
a week and spend five to six hours a day training.
Other than that, Phelps's success is not just the result of his hard work and dedication, it is also due to his mindset. He has a positive attitude and a never give up mentality that has helped him overcome many obstacles. For instance, in 2008, Phelps had won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, breaking the record for the most gold medals won by an athlete in a single Olympic Games. However, in the months leading up to the Olympics, he struggled with depression and contemplated quitting swimming altogether. But he didn't give up. He sought help, worked hard to overcome his mental health issues, and went on to achieve his greatest success. If I was him, it would be completely mental for me. With the media social, netizen and cameras everywhere, of course I preferably will stay outside of this career and quit.
Furthermore, he is also known for his charitable work.
He has used his platform as a successful athlete to raise awareness and funds
for causes that are important to him, such as mental health and water
conservation. His dedication to making a positive impact on the world is truly
admirable.
In conclusion, Michael Phelps is not just an
incredible athlete, but he is also a remarkable human being. His work ethic,
determination and positive attitude have made him an inspiration to me. His
ability to overcome obstacles and never give up is a testament to the power of
the human spirit. Phelps’s success both in and out of the pool show us that
anything is possible if we are willing to work hard and believe in ourselves.
For these reasons, he is an ideal person for me.
